The Rising Numbers Don’t Lie

Deepfake-related fraud losses hit $1.1 billion in 2025 alone — tripling from $360 million in 2024, and representing a ninefold increase from the combined total of $128 million recorded between 2020 and 2023.  The U.S. FTC separately found consumers lost more than $12.5 billion to fraud overall in 2025, with financial losses ballooning 25% even as the number of fraud reports held steady — meaning individual schemes are becoming far more effective.

How Bad Is the Scale?

• Deepfake attempts were occurring every 5 minutes in 2024.

• Incidents involving deepfake phishing skyrocketed 3,000% since 2022.

• 92% of companies have experienced financial loss due to a deepfake, per CFO Magazine.

• 53% of businesses in the U.S. and U.K. have already been targeted in deepfake scams.

• 85% of executives view deepfake as an “existential” threat to their company’s financial security.

What the Authorities are Saying

The SEC published a formal statement in March 2025 titled “AI, Deepfakes, and the Future of Financial Deception,” treating it as a top-tier regulatory concern.  KPMG, J.P. Morgan, and the UK Government have all published formal guidance on deepfake threats to businesses.  JD Supra noted in February 2026: “This is not a niche technical issue anymore — it’s a growing threat with real-world consequences.”

Social Media: Primary Attack Vector

In 2025, 83% of all deepfake fraud losses originated on social media platforms — precisely where our primary customers (vloggers, creators, digital businesses) operate.  This dominant fraud type is impersonating creators, celebrities, and business leaders to promote fraudulent investment schemes, accounting for 80% of total deepfake losses and $886 million in damages.
